Events in Liverpool this summer

There’s always something happening in Liverpool, but in the summer our city really comes to life! Whether it’s making the most of better weather, lighter nights or just celebrating a specific event, summer is the time to be in and around Liverpool.

We’ve pulled together some of the highlights of the summer calendar, so if you haven’t visited us yet these could be the perfect reason to come and see Liverpool doing what we do best.

Secret Set Friday @ Phase One
Where: The Jacaranda, Slater Street
When: Fridays till September
What: A secret performer every week on the Phase One stage. Whether it’s an up-and-coming local artist or the front man of a charting act trying it solo the only things that are certain are talent, drinks and atmosphere – who knows what else is on the cards.

Open Mic Night
Where: Hot Water Comedy Club
When: Monday nights from 7pm
What: A weekly comedy night where the acts who sign up, go up! You never know who might show up, from absolute beginners finding their feet on stage to seasoned professionals trying out new material. Sign up to perform from when the doors open. The show ends when we’ve run out of comedians!

A Lovely Poetry Festival
Where: Everyman & Playhouse
When: 1st July – 9th July
What: A Lovely Poetry Festival features some of the UK’s top talent, from Liverpool and around the country. At the Everyman from 1st to 9th July, it will celebrate writing, different voices and showcase the wonderful creative community of Liverpool.

Liverpool International Music Festival
Where: Various venues across the city
When: 29th July – 31st July
What: LIMF is back and this year’s theme is POWER TO THE PEOPLE & PURPOSE. As society becomes awakened to the need for social justice, equality, equity and true inclusion, LIMF celebrates those trailblazing people, movements and music genres that have changed the game by manifesting that the power is in the people.

Liverpool Pride
Where: Tithebarn Street
When: 29th July – 31st July
What: After a three-year hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, our flagship event, Pride in Liverpool is back and taking to the streets of Liverpool city centre once again. Following the annual March With Pride (registrations now open), the free Pride in Liverpool festival, sponsored by Barclays, will centre around the Tithebarn Street festival hub, just a stone’s throw from the city’s Pride Quarter and visitor attractions.

Brazilica Samba Festival
Where: Abercromby Square
When: 6th August
What: Brazilica Festival! A celebration of Brazilian Arts and Culture, returns on Saturday 6th August 2022, with Liverpool’s International Samba Carnival Parade. Samba Bands, Dancers and Performers will gather at Abercromby Square for a 7.30pm start! The glittering parade will pass The Metropolitan Cathedral on Mount Pleasant, Hope Street, Hardman Street, Leece Street, Bold Street and Lord Street. The parade will end with performances in Williamson Square.
