Liverpool, the birthplace of modern music, a hub for vibrant culture and home to the friendliest people in the world – the Scousers. But what is living in Liverpool really like for students embarking on an educational journey at Liverpool Hope University? You may already know so many of the fantastic locations our city has to offer, but for those of you that don’t…
Nightlife
The main student scene is based at Concert Square, surrounded by clubs and bars that host events for students and offer cheap drinks. If you’re looking for a low-cost night where you can dance to your favourite guilty pleasures, Pop World is the place for you.
If you fancy more of a cocktail evening, head to Modo, 2-4-1 cocktails and drinks deals with three floors for the best night out. Typical student hot spots include Red Door, Heebie Jeebies and the Raz, all host to a wild and low-cost night.
Another upcoming and popular location is the Baltic Triangle, which is home to the Baltic Market. This place is filled with food outlets and quirky bars, and while it’s slightly out of the centre of town, it is well worth a visit.
Hot spots
Liverpool is also home to beautiful landmarks that are great to visit if you have some free time. The two Cathedrals and the Three Graces are popular spots to appreciate the beauty of our brilliant city. If you fancy a cultural day out, take in the art galleries and museums that Liverpool has to offer and finish the evening off with a show at one of our many theatres. You can also head to Albert Dock and indulge yourself into the stories that this historic location has to offer. And if you still aren’t satisfied, get down to the Cavern Club, a main tourist spot focused around the Beatles and where their long successful careers all started.
Socialising
Whether you want to a place with stunning views to chill, or even somewhere tranquil to study, Sefton Park is a place that has everything. Its lake and scenic walkways are ideal for a relaxing afternoon, and the acres of green space are also home to the much loved LIMF.
If you fancy a bit of retail therapy then Liverpool One is the place for you. As well as the many shops, L1 is also home to a cinema, crazy golf and a wide variety of restaurants. Bold Street is also a student hot spot, with an array of independent restaurants.
Student discounts
There is an array of locations both retail and restaurants that accept Unidays and NUS cards, so make sure you have them to make the most of some of the best student discount offers. There are even student events throughout the year where high street stores include further reductions on items just for students! The Liverpool One student event normally happens in September where you can get anything up to 50% in retail stores, bars and restaurants. They even run competitions to win up to £1000.
This guide only touches on some of the highlights of this fantastic city. Once you’re a student here, you will undoubtedly discover much more.
